Slavery collection, 1700-1817.

Documents pertaining to slavery in New York City consisting of bills of sale, papers regarding manumission of slaves, accounts of maintaining slaves, and a birth certificate. In addition, a register maintained by the Society for Promoting the Manumission of Slaves describing the slaves and date of freedom, freed by the 1799 act of the State Legislature passing an act for the gradual abolition of slavery, 1785-1809.
